Development

The Armblast (a registered trademark) anti-material rocket launcher has been developed by the Bulgarian company Armar Corp. It was first shown at the Eurosatory 2010 defence exhibition in Paris.

Description
The Armblast is a single-shot disposable rocket launcher. The launcher comprises of a single non-extending launch tube. Simple 'pop-up' front and rear sights are fitted to the left-hand side of the launcher. The front sight has a simple reticle graduated from 50 to 350 m in 50 m increments. The rear sight is an aperture or peep sight and has a dual compensation adjustment for use in extreme hot or cold conditions. The plus (+) setting is for use over a temperature range of 0 to +50°C, the minus (-) setting for use over a temperature range of 0 to -40°C. A fold-down pistol-grip is located at the muzzle end and a simple fold-down shoulder support are provided for aiming purposes. Circular shock-absorbing pads are fitted to each end of the launch tube and an adjustable web sling is provided for routine carrying. The firing mechanism is located on the top of the launcher and appears to function in the same manner as the RPG-22/26 rocket launchers. Deployment time is given as 8-10 seconds. The warhead is reported as being of the 'reactive enhanced blast effect' and is thought to be a development of the generic thermobaric blast effect group. It has been optimised to defeat area targets including troops in the open, field fortifications and lightly armoured vehicles.
